Towards the alleged coup attempt of July 15,

Congressman Paul Gosar said, "In fact, there are claims that the alleged coup attempt was made to justify mass persecution of political opponents."

Gosar also said, "American Turks expect the U.S. Department of State to address civil rights violations in Turkey, including political persecutions, deplatforming, and weaponized law enforcement and judiciary against political opponents."
