There Was A Sniper On The Bridge And He Was Not A Soldier
One of the most important elements that fired at civilians on the bridge were snipers. It is also known that these snipers were seen by the police and citizens on the bridge, they were positioned on the top of one pillar of the bridge and also Nakkaştepe, and they fired at the people from there.
This information came to the fore in various press and media organs on July 16, and it was shared that an officer who climbed the top of the bridge fired on the people and was then neutralized. The existence of such an officer was not found both in the ongoing process and in the trial phase, and when the arrows showed the dark forces about the sniper, the news was removed, and it was tried to be forgotten. So, what are the facts about snipers/shooters?
At around 06:00 in the morning of 16 July 2016, while the soldier was trying to take shelter in the police, Major General Yavuz TÜRKGENCI came to the soldier and asked if the snipers at the foot of the bridge had also dropped their weapons and went down. Because Major General Yavuz TÜRKGENCI also knew like the citizens and the police that there were snipers on the bridge. Turgay ÖDEMİŞ expressed the truth on the subject. He said: "After a while, Major General Yavuz TÜRKGENCI, who was wearing a steel vest, came to me. He asked me if I know him. I answered positively. Then, he asked me if the snipers also went down. And I said that we do not have such an element up there" (Indictment, pp. 738-739).
Thoracic Surgeon Specialist, Operator Doctor Sezai ÇELİK, who was at the Bridge that evening. "We also saw the sniper on the bridge top. Special operations police noticed that sniper and shot him down. The people shot by the sniper were shot in the chest and head with a single bullet” he said [1].
Again, some conversations that were reflected on the police radio that night confirm the presence of the sniper.
Station is listening, sir/
21 is speaking/ We are at the Bosphorus Bridge now/ Can you contact the Bosphorus Bridge protection officers/ It is said to be a person at the top of the Bosphorus’ Tower Pillars. As far as we know, only special elevators go up there/ Can our friends check it out over/ (Indictment, p. 593).
Apart from the radio conversations, we have also included the statements of those who witnessed the event below:
In his defense, the suspect Turgay ÖDEMİŞ (Lt. Colonel): “… At one time, shots started to come from the place where a large Turkish flag was flying, known as Nakkaştepe; shots were fired one by one and serially. I put the students and soldiers in a trench under the military vehicles, so that they would not be injured.” “… There was also frequent shooting from the opposite side. I was slightly injured by a bullet that hit my Nokia 3310 mobile phone.”
In his statement, the complainant Hakan SARIOĞLU: “… also, there was a sniper on the top of the bridge’s Beylerbeyi foot, and he was shooting people one by one …” (Indictment p. 412).
In his statement, the complainant Mahmut Han TOGAY: “… a single bullet, probably came from the sniper, went in and out of my jaw” (Indictment, p. 259).
However, it can be said that the most important and most reliable evidence on this subject is the autopsy report. According to the autopsy report, many of the dead and injured were shot with a single bullet. It cannot be a coincidence that 25 of the 34 people who lost their lives died with a single bullet. This can only be explained by the presence of the sniper.
As it turns out, there were snipers on the Bridge. And these snipers shot at civilians. In addition, the images of these snipers were also published on the Internet. Again, some prosecutors and some governor's officials received information about these snipers. Regarding the issue, 2 Kanas sniper guns were found in Nakkaştepe. The Kanas gun fires 7.62 mm bullets. It is the same as the gun in the military. These snipers/shooters also fired from the bridge pillars towards the people. They tried to show these fires as if they were made by soldiers. Now it is treated as if such snipers do not exist. Who put those snipers there? What is the purpose of them being there? Why was it tried to give the impression that the soldier was shooting the civilians?
One day, the Turkish people will learn the answers to these questions. Truth has a habit of coming out one day.
